Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F3-5 Surf / Sea State: Lumpy Air Temperature: cool Sea Temperature: cold Weather: ok Max Speed: mid 20's Distance Covered:
This was my first proper sail since Oct. Air temp was good for Dec, good
forecast brought a big turn out and as usual the wind didn't show as
forecast, but it was sailable. Light on the inside but wind further out.
Some were crawling out on 7.5 so started to rig 8.5 but as always a stiff
breeze started so yet again had to rig another sail 7.8. Most were sailing
well and had a crawling run out to the wind band which was OK. I lost my
GPS and its amazing how soon I lost interest without one. Had a couple of
nice starting gybes but it was downhill after that falling in on the
inside. To find smaller swells for gybing I was having to go pretty far out
of the river mouth, so always felt nervous. The day was up and down. I went
overpowered and fell on my board holing it so called it a day. I was never
comfortable even after tweaking, don't know why, maybe the cold, not sure
why but needed hat and gloves. Ha a couple off burn ups with Lee, which was
nice, so shame no GPS. OK sail for Dec. My north shoxs extension kept
bottoming out slamming the boards around so there was some big swells
further out. Harness lines were never right and the sail was backhanded so
not a great sail.
